6.8 Magnitude earthquake hits southeast Taiwan

A 6.8 size quake hit the inadequately populated southeastern piece of Taiwan on Sunday.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) measured the earthquake at a magnitude of 7.2 and at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).

Taiwanese media said that a low-rise building housing a convenience store fall down and rescue operation had begun to free those insides.

The US Tsunami Warning Centre issued a warning of the Tsunami in Taiwan after the quake.

It said that hazardous tsunami waves were possible within 300 km (190 miles) of the epicenter along the coasts of Taiwan.
