Tropical Storm Ian will hit Florida as a hurricane: NHC
A Tropical Depression Nine strengthened into a Tropical Storm Ian on Friday night.
The system of NHC is forecasting that Florida will hit a Category 2 hurricane next week.
As of 11 p.m., Tropical Storm Ian was moving west-northwest at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

It was located 385 miles southeast of Kingston, Jamaica, and 680 miles east-southeast of Grand Cayman.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 24 counties on Friday due to the upcoming threat when it was still a tropical depression.
“This storm has the potential to strengthen into a major hurricane and we encourage all Floridians to make their preparations,” DeSantis said in a statement.
The tropical storm lan is forecasted to bring heavy rain with gusty winds to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, Jamaica, and northern parts of South America through the weekend.
According to the NHC, the Florida Keys and South Florida can expect heavy rains and wind to begin as early as Monday. Some flash and urban flooding may possible with this rainfall.
