Side Effects of Hand Sanitizers: Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic utility and use of different hand sanitizers has drastically increased. People use these sanitizers without knowing their quality, brand, etc. Most of the hand sanitizers contain Alchohol in a particular volume %/%. Overuse of low-quality Alchohol contained sanitizers may cause skin infection.

Recently such cases have come to light at Government Hospital in Agra. As per a report published on zeenew.india.com, “A government hospital in Agra witnesses around 10-15 cases of skin problems caused by poor quality hand sanitizers on a daily basis.”

Dr. Yatendra Chahar, head of the skin and venereal diseases department at Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra said that people who frequently use hand sanitizers and also those of poor quality complain of itching, dryness, pustules, and vesicles. He said office goers, youth, and women constitute a large volume of his patients.

Dr. Chahar said he usually preferred using soap and water over hand sanitizer. Raj Kumar Sharma, the drug inspector in Agra, suggested that people use only hand sanitizers that contain around 70 percent alcohol.
