A large shipyard in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, filled the skies of Buzzards Bay with black smoke on Friday, damaging dozens of boats and cars and several buildings.

"There was an enormous amount of fire in the main building and surrounding buildings," Matapoiset Fire Chief Andrew Murray said at a news conference near the shipyard.

Murray said at least four people were injured in the blaze, including three firefighters. Over 100 firefighters responded. Fireboats were also dispatched to pump up the seawater, he added.
Murray said the wind played a role in the fire. "The wind definitely pushed the fire forward," said Murray. Murray added that a total of five buildings were affected by the fire.
Video taken by Gibb from the shipyard shows the fire engulfing the boat, setting the car on fire, and setting the building on fire. He said he saw at least 15 to 20 burning cars.
The flame grew exponentially in 10 minutes, Gibb said. Rescuers arrived shortly thereafter, he said.
Another video shot by Gibb from a distance shows a burning house with thick black smoke billowing into the air. Gibb said the heat of the fire could be felt from about 300 feet away. rice field.
Rosa Giberti saw the fire from 2,000 feet. Her father was teaching her to fly when he spotted her smoke.
A video she shot shows several boats and structures on fire. Within 15 minutes, she said, the entire garden was engulfed in flames.
