Shia LaBeouf rejects Olivia Wilde firing him from 'Don't Worry Darling' for 'aggressive' process

Shia LaBeouf hit back after claiming that Olivia Wilde fired an actor from an upcoming film, claiming the director changed the story to gain "social currency."

In a recent interview with Variety, Don't Worry Darling star and director Olivia Wilde originally hired LaBeouf to play the role of Jack Chambers,

Later Harry Styles. Wilde said he decided to fire LaBeouf because his creative process "didn't foster the spirit I demanded of my production."

"He has a process that seems to require some sort of fighting energy, and I personally don't think it leads to the best performance," Wilde explained.

But I believe it's the best way to inspire people to do their best. Ultimately, it's my responsibility to protect the production and the cast. That was my job."

But LaBeouf recalls a different story. In an email to Variety, the actor shared an email he allegedly sent to Wilde in response to her interview on Wednesday, as well as a text message.

"I'm a little confused by the story of being fired," LaBeouf wrote in an email to Wilde on Wednesday. "You and I both know the reason for my departure.

Your actors and I couldn't find time to rehearse, so I left your film. According to texts LaBeouf shared with Variety, he and Wilde met in person on Aug. 16, 2020, to discuss his exit.
